ABSTRACT
The project Crime Management System using Info-provider is developed for ABU security office. This was necessitated by the fact that law enforcement agencies do not have customized software that will enable them to maintain crime records accurately so that needed information can be retrieved when needed. The manual system of recording information is still used and this makes it difficult to manage crime records due to the accumulation of paper documents. To solve this problem an electronic recording of crime records is needed to capture and save crime record easily for easy retrieval when needed. The system was developed using Drupal CMS (written with PHP, HTML and XML), which is a tool that makes it easy to create web applications and MySQL as the database management system (DBMS) to store the records for the crime.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

1.0 Introduction
The Crime Management System using Info-provider is a computerized based crime control record management system which enables security agencies to utilize the computer system to record crime information and to find out the perpetrator of a given crime based on past criminal records. The system is a comprehensive database of crime committed and it makes it very easy for security agencies to investigate crimes. This is possible because the database can be queried based on different criteria such as type of crime, name and id of the suspect. When a crime is committed, the security agencies can use an information of the suspect to match with their criminal record database so as to get more information about the suspect that will facilitate questioning.

1.1 Problem statements of the study
Security agencies are faced with the challenge of inability to investigate case properly. Most at times cases do take longer to investigate than expected, at time it is difficult to catch the suspects and wrong person may be arrested because of lack of proper investigation method. On a common note, there is no computerized criminal record system that will enable the security agencies to confirm past criminal records, get information of suspect and also query the records based on different criteria so as to track down criminals. The manual method adopted to investigate cases takes time and keeps cases pending and even neglected with time. Consequently, the preparators of the crime are not apprehended at the end of the day thereby making the security investigation ineffective.

1.2 Aim and Objectives of the study
The aim of this project is to design and implement a crime record management system with the following objectives:
1. To develop a database system that can be used to record criminal record.
2. To implement a system that can be used  to easily find existing criminal records.
3. To develop a system that can aid investigation of criminal records by querying the database based on specific criteria
4. To develop a system that will provide reports instantly of existing criminal records when needed.

1.3 Significance of study
The significance of this study is that it will provide a system that will aid in investigation. In addition, it will also bring to light the application of computer in investigation as the advancement in technology is now everywhere.

1.4 Scope and Limitation of the Study.
This study covers design and implementation of criminal management system using a small community of people.

1.5 Organization of project
This project is organized into five chapters:
Chapter one is concerned with the introduction of the project and it consists the preliminaries, statements of the problem, sim and objectives of the study, significance of the study, scope of the study, organization of the project and definitions of terms.
Chapter two focuses on the literature review, the contributions of others on the subject matter is discussed.
Chapter three is concerned with the system analysis and design. It presents the research methodology, analyses the present system and provides information on the problems and provides information on the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed system. The system is also presented in this chapter.
Chapter four present the system implementation and documentation. The choice of programming language, analysis of modules, choice of programming language and system requirements for implementation.
Chapter five focuses on the summary, conclusion and recommendations are provided in this chapter based on the study carried out.
