ABSTRACT
This project examined the outpatient attendance of Dutse General Hospital from the year of 2015 to 2021. This study employed seasonal variation indices (ratio to trend method. The data collected was analysis at α=0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that the female outpatient attendance is maximum at the year of 2015 of and minimum at the year of 2016 , and male outpatient attendance in maximum at the year of 2016 , and minimum at the year of 2017, and it shows that there is seasonality in the female and male outpatient attendance, and also it analyzed that the female outpatient attendance and male outpatient attendance of Dutse General Hospital for the year of 2014 to 2017 are significantly difference, but the SPSS test shows that there is significantly difference between the outpatient attendance (male & female). Based on the findings of this study, useful suggestion and recommendations were offered as strategies for encouraging the health sectors towards the making good analysis for the patient health care.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Now a days hospital recorded a very large number of
attendance, this is due prevalence of many diseases, and/or because of
unawareness people have in attending to medical care before any ailment than
the traditional habit of staying at home for herbs and other traditional
treatment. Thus attending the hospital is refers to as patients. However,
patient is repairs to any recipient of healthcare, is most often ill or injured
and indeed of treatment by a physician, advanced practice, registered nurses,
physiotherapist, physician assistant, psychologist, dentist, podiatrist and
veterinarian. (Reader John, 2010).
It is therefore in the best interest to refer to
attendance where the person or number of person attending the hospital are
referred to as patient attendance. Therefore patience attendance define as a
people who seek or that are attending to a hospital for the reason of their
cases. According to NHS term of art for a care event defined as the attendance
of a patient at a hospital or in patient word for a day patient care for at
least half day or month, week. People have deep rooted convictions of their
accident or perceived emergency, together with a considerable loyalty and
emotional attachment to it.
This research evaluates the attendance patterns of
people who responded to attend the hospital (before and after treatment)
regularly regarding the reasons they had presented at a hospital of Dutse
General Hospital, it is therefore in the best interest of the researcher to use
his/ her knowledge of statistics application (statistic) in the attendance of
ill health (patients) attending the hospital of Dutse General Hospital. It does
not and here the research as will look forward to classifying, arranging, and
recording the monthly, quarterly, annually, bi-annually attendance of patients
in the hospital with a view to see the distribution of the data.
This research work attempts to introduce efficient
methods and routine toward comparing the total attendance of general outpatient
department (GOPD), this in general composed of male, female and patients that
are children, attending the hospital of Dutse General Hospital, Jigawa state.
1.1 HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY AREA
The
hospital was established in 1972 as Dutse Comprehensive Health Centre (CHC) by
old Kano State. The (CHC) was on 8th August, 1985 converted to Dutse
General Hospital and Commissioned by the military government of Kano State, Air

Dutsemetropolitans no. along Kiyawa road, Dutse it covers an area of 500m 800m
and it currently it has 200 bed capacities, secondary health facility serving
as a referral centre or all PHES in Dutse and Kiyawa local government areas.
It also provides for other neighbouring
settlements in Kano and Bauchi States. Thus the hospital centre for health care
access of 58.58, total catchment population consisting of 2.343 under 1year
children, 11.716 children less than 5years, 2.929 pregnant women and 12.888
women of child bearing age.
Human
Resource for Health (HRH) of the General Hospital is made up of 76 Nurses, 5

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
As
the research topic implies, the patient attendance data in the Dutse General
Hospital, therefore, thus attending the hospital is to know whether that the
arrival of patients to the various hospitals have brought about the negative as
well as patients to attend the hospital in the strength to the human body.
On
the other hand hospitals are provided there, for the purpose of delivering and
maintained of health care services within the human society as well as social
environment in general. This health is vulnerable and also played a
significance role towards the human existence.
This
research work provide the appropriate test statistic that would test if there
is any significance differences between the patient forecasted data observed
data, and to determine if the number of patient attendance increase or
decreases based on seasonality (periods).
Furthermore,
the research tends to investigate the pattern, distribution of the patients with
relation to time (months) for proper evaluation to ascertain priority a Trent
and research can investigate reasons for such if any, with a view to plan for
those periods with density records of attendance.
1.3 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The
aims and objectives that this research work is undertaking is as follows:-
(i)
To determine whether there is an increase
or decrease in patient attendance over the period of 2015 to 2021 in the Dutse
General Hospital.
(ii)
To determine years with maximum and
minimum out patients attendance.
(iii)
To evaluate tend value for the patient
attendance data from the year of 2015 to 2021 using the fitted trend (i.e v= a
+ bt).
(iv)
To test if there is any significance differences
between the female outpatients attendance and male outpatients attendance.
(v)
To determine the seasonality in the female
and male out patents attendance data.
1.4 SCOPE AND LIMITATION
OF THE STUDY
The
scope of this research is limited to the monthly data of patient attendance
collected from the record department of Dutse General Hospital, for the year of
2015 to 2020.

STUDY
The
main significances that this study is talking about is to highlight the
significances of health to our day live activities, mean while to since as the
avid line to the government and other interested agencies towards the
implementation of various programs that are related to the health, it will help
other researchers to know how to start there research using the various
researcher
knowledge, and useful and very persuadable to the statisticians and planners to
plan for the number of patients that may attend the hospital of Dutse General
Hospital for the next coming yeas say 2020 or 2021 and so on. Nevertheless, it
help the government to know the total number of patient in the Dutse General
Hospital, from the year of 2015 to 2021 for better planning.
Furthermore,
this research work tend to consolidate as well as to highlight the benefits as
well as the effects regarding to the hospital attendance to the hospital when

as giving kind of coverage to the community as grass root, the importance of
hospitals when we feel any change in our community regarding to health issue.
