ABSTRACT
The "Construction and Testing of Touch Switch Security System"
project focuses on the development of a modern security system designed to
enhance safety and efficiency in access control. This system is built around a
touch-sensitive interface that activates or deactivates security mechanisms,
such as alarms or locking devices, by detecting human touch. The touch switch
is engineered using capacitive touch technology, which ensures reliability,
responsiveness, and resistance to false triggers.
The system's design integrates key components, including a
microcontroller, touch sensor, relay, and power supply unit, to create a
compact and efficient setup. The touch interface eliminates the need for
physical keys or buttons, reducing wear and tear and enhancing durability. This
innovation is particularly suitable for applications requiring secure and
tamper-proof access control, such as residential, commercial, and industrial
settings.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND
Security can be defined as the degree of resistance to, or protection from, harm. It applies to any
vulnerable and valuable asset, such as a person, dwelling, community, nation,
or organization.
Security at home
is something applicable to all of us and involves the hardware in place on a
property, and personal security practices. The hardware would be the doors,
locks, alarm systems, lighting that is installed on your property. Personal
security practices would be ensuring doors are locked, alarms activated,
windows closed and many other routine tasks which act to prevent a burglary.
Home security is a vast subject and there are many sources and services that
can assist.
A car alarm is an electronic device
installed in a vehicle in an attempt to discourage theft of the vehicle itself,
its contents, or both. Car alarm work by emitting high-volume sound (usually a siren,
Klaxon, pre-recorded verbal warning, the vehicle's own horn, or a combination
thereof) when the conditions necessary for triggering are met, as well as by
flashing some of the vehicle's lights, and (optionally) notifying the car's
owner via a paging system and interrupting various electrical circuits necessary
for the car to start.
Alarms come with a
mix of features. Remote car alarms typically consist of an additional radio
receiver that allows the owner to wirelessly control the alarm from a key fob.
Remote car alarms typically come equipped with an array of sensors along with
immobilizers and motion detectors.
Security of cars is becoming
a trend in the society because of the level of insecurity. In our country
Nigeria car theft is a common event. The security forces are trying their best
to minimise this development.
however,
as a contribution to mankind this project is constructed so as to help solve
this problems and it is also hope to eliminate any car theft. This project was
constructed in such a way that when the car ignition is on the system will not
be set until when the authorized user first switch ON a hidden switch which is only know by the phone
number and the system will be set so that the fuel pump will be activated.
However, if the authorized users call the hidden phone for the second time the
fuel pump is de-activated and this will enable the car engine to stop.
The design and construction
of this project involves electrical calculations, selection of required
components base on availability and construction of the project into a working
system. Though there are other ideas to solve these problems by other
Engineers, Scientists, Technologist e.t.c. From all indication this project
(the design and construction of car touch security system is a success in
trying to solve a problem in the field of electrical engineering.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Car theft is becoming a
common thing or a daily routine in our country Nigeria, a visit to some of
police stations within Kano and Dutse metropolis
indicate report of stolen vehicles by the owners, with this in mind a secure
security system have to be developed with the present technological advancement
especially in the telecommunication industries, this car touch security system
become focus of contention for the development of a durable security system
that can be use globally to avert any car theft.
1.3 MOTIVATION
Most security system in the
market has false triggering, this can be notice from most cars part where by
touching either by mistake trigger the alarm and leaving the car light on which
can easily run down the car battery if the owner is not near by. Hence, the
motive behind this project is to design a system that is capable of switching
ON alarm when body of the car is touch.
1.4 AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of this project is
to construct a simple and efficient system that will switch ON the security alarm system when the body of the
vehicle is touch Also to achieve the above aim the project is construct to have the following objectives:
1.
Construct sensing and monostable
circuit
2.
Construct switching circuit
3.
Construct first astable circuit
4.
Construct second astable and
alarm circuit
5.
To implement the
construction into a working system
1.5METHODOLOGY
In designing this project
the following methods were used. The project was divided into five sub-circuits
which are independent namely:
1.
Sensing and monostable
circuit
2.
First Astable and Switching
circuit
3.
Second astable and alarm circuit
4.
Power supply circuit
Each
sub-circuit was designed separately, and it will depend on the electrical
characteristics of individual components. Each sub-circuit design is compatible
with each other circuit and the power supply.

1.6 PROJECT ORGANISATION
The project is arranged into
five chapters: with chapter one introducing the general aim and objective of
the project and the ideas presented, chapter two deals with relevant
literatures of components used in realising this project, chapter three deals
with design procedures, calculations and component selection. Chapter four is
construction and testing while chapter five gives the conclusion and
recommendations for upgrading the project.
1.7 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
Keeping vehicle secure should
be something of a priority when managing a fleet system. Incidents of car
thefts have been on the rise as the economy continues to weaken and this has
resulted in the creation of newer and modern vehicle alarms systems. A car
security alarm is one of the most straightforward ways of preventing the theft
of your vehicle. Regardless if your vehicle already has a car alarm installed,
it is suggested that you fit a higher end alarm which will be more effective at
safeguarding the vehicle. Basic alarms will have sensors that set off a noise
alert if somebody tries to forcefully enter the vehicle. High-end car alarm
structures can notify the owner upon the event of the glass breaking, any
impact on the body of the vehicle and even if there are any disturbances on the
planned route.
1.8 SCOPE AND LIMITATION
The project scope and
limitation is to construct a car security system that will operate to sound
alarm whenever the car body is touch using hand.
