ABSTRACT
Man has been so used to electricity that he cannot
do without it. The absence of electricity causes a lot of sadness in our daily
lives. Due to this reason I decided to work on a by rechargeable lamp as my
project.
The project is to see how one can construct a source of high without really
generating is from an A.C source. I decided to write on this project in order
to saw how I can implement it during and after school for home and marketing
purpose.
This project is a lamp that was a 6v rechargeable battery to generate light
which is very useful to man both at home and otherwise. It is a stem that is
very portable and very effective mostly t might after which it has been
charged.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Electricity and electronic has done a lot of good to our
society. Sometimes I imagine how the entire world would have look like without
light or electricity. Electricity has a lot of advantages both in our homes and
industrial uses. Some of then include cooking washing of cloths (laundry)
milling and as sources of light e.g rechargeable lamps. Rechargeable lamp is
one important devoice that comprises the use of electricity and electronics.
Due to it great importance to the society at large decided to use it as my
project topic.
When I say electricity and electronic someone may be
imaging if there is any difference among the two. But the answer is yes. This
is because electricity does not involves component like diodes capacitors
transistor etc but electronic is the embody of this discrete component to from
a working circuit. Note that electricity is just the stepping down of voltage
by using a transformer to pass current and voltage to the circuit only.
Nevertheless my concentration is on rechargeable which
serves as a sources of light in our homes in the absence of electricity from
our public power supply.
Electricity is of great importance to our lines and
has done a lot of good to our present day society it is something we cannot do
without, if we are to advance technological and otherwise.
It has really helped us in the powering of our system both in our domestic
homes and industries.
But in our own country (Nigeria), there has been always these problems of lack
of power and fluctuation in power supplied, which made me to see how I can
design a circuit that can generate a source of light, eve in the absence of
electricity or power from the general source of power supply (PHCN)
I decided to design and write on a rechargeable lantern, which I always use a
my source of light in the absence of the major source of light. Ti is a
portable lamp designed to be recharged using an alternating current (A.C) and
to generate a source of light using a direct current (D.C) source.
When the system is charging using an A.C. source, the lamp will never come on
which is the source of light. This is because I used light emitting diode (LED)
as my source of light and it is a D.C component.
1.1 OBJECTIVES OF RECHARGEABLE LAMP
To enjoy light even in the absence of electricity from
the general power supply.

1.2 SIGNIFICANCE OF RECHARGEABLE LAMP
It helps us to enjoy light even in the absence of
electricity it is very economical
1.3 MOTIVATION
A lamp
rechargeable as the name suggests is for
turning ON and OFF the lamp automatically without the need of human
interventions. It senses the light intensity from surroundings and find whether
its day or night. And it automatically turns ON when the surrounding is dark and
it turns OFF when it receives light from surroundings. A sensor called LDR is
used to detect the light intensity. This project finds wide outdoor
applications in streets, gardens and public places where it finds difficulty to
appoint a person to operate the lights.
LEDs (light-emitting diodes, or
solid-state lighting), are ultra-efficient, have an extended working life,
significantly reduce CO2 emissions even compare to compact fluorescent bulbs,
slash power bills and minimize replacement (i.e. maintenance) costs. Many of
the modern designs simply slot into the same fixtures and fittings as
incandescent bulbs, but their flexibility also means that designers are
producing ever more intriguing and versatile lighting possibilities.
