ABSTRACT

This project report laid emphasis for the period of six years (2013-2018). As observed in general hospital dutse. However, the statistical tools used are analysis of variance (ANOVA) different of two mean (student t-test) from the analysis carried out we learnt that in the ANOVA, there is no significant difference between the quarterly deliveries of babies in the second analysis, student t-test we observed that there is no significant difference between the mean delivery of male and female birth with in the years from the analysis curried our, it is recommended that the management should look out for more qualified personnel to complement the existing ones .it is paramount for the government to take note of the  increment  in childbirth and make adequate provision for the upbringing. Also the government to provide health facilities that will prevent some unfrozen circumstance.

 CHAPTER OONE

1.0  INTRODUCTION

In  Nigeria there is a strong social emphasis on fertility and tradition of a son preference male and female are produced in approximately equal number in most species with separate sexes regardless of the mechanism of sex determination  in humans female is homogametic (X X) while male is heterogametic (X Y). The sex ratio of man is expected to be more or less equal because of the 1:1 segregation of X and Y-chromosomes in the male (2) in 2004 males accounted for 50.4% of the male (2) in 2004, males accounted for 50.4%of the global total (3) in the absence of manipulation, human, human secondary sex ratio is commonly assumed to be 105-107 male births for every 1000 female birth however, sex ratios at birth or among infant man be considerably skewed by sex selective abortion and infanticide even in the absence of such practices, a range  sex ratios at birth of between 103 to 107 boys per 100  girls has been observed in different societies and among different clinic and racial groups within a given society, through more  extreme ratios documented in some population should be attributed rather more to cultural preferences than to biological vibration in the propensity to bear boys or girls.

A 200 bed capacity secondary health facility serving as a referral center for all PHCS in Dutse and kiyawa local government area. It also provides for other neighboring settlements in Kano and Bauchi state. Thus the hospital centered for health care access of 58,581.total catchment population consisting of 2.343 under 1year children, 11.716 children less than 5 year 2929 pregnant women and 12888 women of child bearing age.

The general hospital is made up of 71 nurses, 24 J.CHCW, 17 CHCW, 9.CA, 12.Midwives,3 Combew,5 Health information technicians,4 health information officers, 6.pharmacist,10 pharmacy technicians,2 radiologist 4 X-ray technicians, 3 physiotherapist, 6 laboratory scientist, 12 medical technicians, 8 medical laboratory assistant, 1 dentist 1 dental therapist 3 environmental officers, 10 medical Doctors 103 health attendants and 116 casual staff in including NYSC members

1.2 Statement of the problems

In 2006, it was reported in the dutse general hospital of the Nigeria population commission that out of every thousand giving birth in Nigeria the greater percentage of these birth are the female gender. ·         To investigate if there exist any significance difference in the number of children delivered within the years

1.4  Scope of the study

The scope of this study will be limited only on sex ratio at birth from 2013 to 2018 in Dutse  General  Hospital, jigawa state.
