2. Organizational Overview
2.1 Background
HopeBridge Development Initiative (HDI) was established in 2024 as a
Lagos-based nonprofit organization aimed at addressing multidimensional poverty
and inequality among women, children, and vulnerable youth. The founding
members—comprised of community development professionals, educators, medical
practitioners, and legal experts—shared a collective concern over the rising
rate of school dropouts, unemployment, domestic abuse, and preventable diseases
in inner-city Lagos and neighboring rural areas.
In response, HDI was conceived not merely as a service organization, but
as a catalyst for sustainable transformation, using community
engagement, skills development, and policy advocacy as tools for development.
2.2 Legal Structure
HopeBridge Development Initiative is registered under Part C of
the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) as an Incorporated Trustee with the
Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria. The organization operates
as a nonprofit, governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by a
professional team.
It complies with all relevant Nigerian laws relating to nonprofit
organizations, including annual filings, tax exemption under Section 23(1)(c)
of CITA, and NDPR data protection compliance.
