ABSTRACT
The aim of the study is to each of a set of small open-fronted compartments in a workplace or other organization where letters or messages may be left for individuals.
Pigeonhole a small open compartment (as in a desk or cabinet) for keeping letters or documents, a neat category which usually fails to reflect actual complexities. To removable objects intended to support various human activities such as seating (eg. Chairs. Stools, and sofas) eating(table), and sleeping (cg. Beds). Furniture’s is also used to hold object at a convenient height for work (as horizontal surfaces above the ground, such as tables and desks), or to store things (eg. Cupboards, and Shelves). To enhance staff performance of work. iv. To ensure comfortable and aesthetic system of storage document with the pigeonhole furniture are provided in the department . It was observed that there is lack of p pigeonhole in educational institution which will draw back the educational system. So, there is need of support from government to provide enough pigeonhole in educational institutions. Through literature review, there are some advantages of pigeonhole in educational institution. It provide convenient environment for learning activities, it enhances staffs performance because they are feeling comfortable, it makes student to become smarts and improve their experience, skills during their study, it gives the student the opportunity to study well to achieved better result at the end of their study, it will provide long time storage of previous students document.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
PIGEONHOLE WOOD WORK: is the scientific way to the
various process involve in bringing or making wood to some useful form by
finishing and assembling wood members together interior and exterior of the
building to it purpose. Wood work: is defined as the act of making items from
wood into useful or decorative items an example of wood working is making a
chair. is work of wood especially interior.
Also. wood work: are the activities or skills of making items
from wood which include cabaret making. wood carving, joinery. And woodturning.
PIGEONHOLE:
refers to each of a set of
small open-fronted compartments in a workplace or other organization where
letters or messages may be left for individuals.
Pigeonhole a small open
compartment (as in a desk or cabinet) for keeping letters or documents, a neat category
which usually fails to reflect actual complexities.
To removable objects intended to support various human
activities such as seating (eg. Chairs. Stools, and sofas) eating(table), and
sleeping (cg. Beds). Furniture’s is also used to hold object at a convenient
height for work (as horizontal surfaces above the ground, such as tables and
desks), or to store things (eg. Cupboards, and Shelves). Furniture can be a
product of design and is considered as a form of decorative art. In addition to
furniture’s functional role. it can be serve as symbolic or religions purpose. It
can be made from many materials, including metal, plastic and woods Furniture’
can be made reflect the local culture. using variety of woodworking joints
which often reflect the local culture.
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE
STUDY
History of woodwork
Timber has been used for centuries by civilization to create
useful, beautiful and decorative items. Throughout history woodworking has
featured prominently in architecture. religions agricultural. recreational
activities and survival. Developing woodworking skills human were able to hunt
more effectively create shelter building boast and make life easier furniture bowls
and were also produced as art woodworking led to the advancement of society. Ancient
woodworkers. Over 2000. Years ago.
woodworkers were a very important part of society for the
ancient wooden furniture such as chairs, stools. shelves, tables and chests.
Woodworking process have also come from these ancient craft people. it is
amazing what they achieved with primitive tools.
According to some scholars, Egyptians were the first to
vanish. or “finish" their woodwork. though no one knows the composition of
these “finishing is the act of placing some kind of protective sealant on wood
materials in order to preserve them.
Ancient Egyptians woodworkers used a variety of tools,
including axes, adzes. chisels. pull saws and bow drills, during the earliest
pre-dynastic period (Circa, 3100 B C.. about the time of the first pharaoh)
they also used mortise and tenon joints to join pieces of wood. Pegs, dowels
and leather or cord lashings strengthened these joints. Animal glue was used
during the new kingdom period (15701069 B.C.).
Wood workers today who practice the ancient oriental
woodworking techniques take pride in their mastery of the tilted joints and
their skills of not using electrical equipment. nails or glue to hold their
pieces together. Japan is where these styles of woodworking primarily
originated. One reason for Japan’s success in such excellent woodworking was
that their developed high-carbon steel tools early In their history. Their use
of high-quality blades and the engineering of the lathe made ancient Japanese
woodworkers leaders in counting round
and curved objects, Cooperage (the making of barrels and casks) and bentwood
words (wood that is artificially shaped for use in making furniture) were
popular in Japan for every day household objects.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE
PROBLEM
1. Lack of pigeonhole in Jigawa state Polytechnic Dutse,
College of Engineering and Environmental Studies departments office (Building Architecture. Quantity surveying.
Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Welding and Fabrication Departments). There
are no enough pigeonhole in the college
offices such as stools, chairs, shelves, and drawer. The drawers that the departments is used for keeping students
records and other relative educational material such as examination booklets.
student final project, and other document concerned to the departments. The
drawers has lilted and there is remaining documents that is kept on the floor
of the departments office. At the essence
of this problem the departments and the college it self
supposes to have a library in order to stored the document according to departmental
especially the past years student project. So, there is need of providing
another polished furniture’s such as office stools, super chairs, shelves, and
drawers for keeping the remaining documents and files that is on the
office floor of the departments.
2. Lack of pigeonhole
furniture will draw back the educational system: The report makes particular
mention of Jigawa State Polytechnic School, which was needed in the institute.
The school is being built as part of the school project, though the supplied desks to the institute schools now covered by the project, have yet
to receive any and are using those issued by the government. The government found that students in the upper
institute classes were the main
beneficiaries of the new desks, leaving lower tertiary school student of which there are more, to study on the
floor.
It is just sentence
construction, but what we meant in the report is that needed desks were needed
supplied to our school where the national standard desk. Although standard
issue, some lecturers have complained
that the desks aren't suitable for students "The desks are too high for
tertiary student which makes fair coordination of handwriting skills a bit
difficult. They just have to stand when writing," One of the challenges of
reaching the desk ratio has been the increase in school enrolment in Jigawa
State polytechnic since the start of the
project.
3. Lack of finance and support from government: Lack of financial
resources devoted to education can be evidenced in many ways, including:
lack of schools and other facilities; insufficient classrooms; insufficient,
underpaid, and/or insufficiently trained lecturers; lack of management and supervision;
lack of and/or poor quality textbooks and other learning materials; and
insufficient attention to standards and quality assurance. Each and every
one of these results of insufficient funding can act as a barrier to any
students seeking a tertiary education.
By far, the greatest financial contribution to primary education
comes from domestic funding—depending on the country, these may be from public
(the most common) or private sources. When a country is poor, it probably
will not have sufficient domestic funds to pay for the provision of a quality
education for all.
1.3 AIMS OF THE STUDY
The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of Pigeonhole
Means disseminating Information in Department of Building Technology.
(A Case Study of Building
Department Jigawa State Polytechnic Dutse).
1.4 OBJECTIVES OF THE
STUDY
The following are the specific objectives of the study:
i. To ensure pigeonhole
in any department or offices available in any institution, or to save the
student document are provided.
ii. To ensure mails and students have comfortable learning environment with the pigeonhole .
iii. To enhance staff performance of work.
iv. To ensure comfortable and aesthetic system of storage
document with the pigeonhole furniture are provided in the department .
