ABSTRACT
This study is on effect of stress on workers performance. The total population for the study is 10 staff of first bank. The researcher used questionnaires as the instrument for the data collection. Descriptive Survey research design was adopted for this study. A total of 100 respondents made accountants, human resource managers, senior staff and junior staff were used for the study. The data collected were presented in tables and analyzed using simple percentages and frequencies

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Life in modern societies is generally not without stress, stressful experience has become part and parcel of living in contemporary society. In most human behavior, human being will advertently go through some elements of stress. For example, when we subject ourselves to time, pressure or urgently engage in complex and difficult problem-solving processes, we became exposed to high noisy environment or new of impending damage, we are most likely to go through movement of stress.
Stress occupies a prominent position in psychological and medical research, psychologist view stress as a disruption of human skilled performance. In clinical research, stress and anxiety as viewed as made of pathological adoptive responses in whether context with view stress its role in human resources management cannot be overlooked.
Stress has an emotional experience, which can be monetary affairs. In such cases, the social antecedent of stress is short and we may possess the psychological resources to cope and go through the situation undue disruption of adoptive responses when this is the case stress possess and energizing effect workers motivation, this will act as a signal for us to get ready for action induced by longstanding condition of tension pains, situation, conflicts, and anxieties ever positive adoptive responses become over stretched and our reactions to it are negative in such cases, the negative affects of stress not only affect our health but admonish our productivity.

1.1  Background of the study 
In any organization, people occupy all the different position and inherit great responsibilities for organization effectiveness, whether in private and corporate organization, conglomerates or government services.

1.2   Statement of the problem
The most valuable asset of most organizations is the workers. Whether it is the large conglomerate engaged in the international trade or the small-scale business or manufacturing company, the employee is held in high esteem and their effectiveness or otherwise could make the organization. Anything that can affect the worker’s ability to perform at optimum levels could bring the organization down. However, it has been observed that employees in the organization under the study seem to be passing through stressful experience which could lead to low morale, poor productivity and general efficiency. It is in view of this that the researcher embarked on this research work to ascertain the effect of stress on workers performance in First Bank.

1.3. Objectives of the study
The main objective of this study was to identify the effect of stress on workers performance in First Bank.
Specifically, the study was aimed at identifying:
To examine the impact of stress on workers performance.
To educate workers on how to manage stress in rural areas.
To identify differentmethods which can be used to reduce stress that affects workers.
Identifying individual strategies for reducing Stress among workers?

1.4 Research Question
In order to guide the researcher in the conduct of this research, the following research questions were postulated.
  1. Does stress have impact on workers performance?
  2. Do workers in rural areas have the knowledge of how to manage stress?
  3. What methods can be used to reduce stress that affect workers?
  4. Identifying individual strategies for reducing Stress among workers?

1.5 Significance of the study
The research work is important because it would assist the employees of labor, to manage stress and undergone by their worker. It would also serve as an avenue and function for future and further study.

1.6 Limitation of the study
However, since there is no work without it limitation, the research work is limited by some factor such as:
Adequate finance.
Time constraint to carry out the research.
Uncooperative attitude from respondents.
Lack of sufficient data and record.

1.7 Definition of terms
The following terms are defined in the specific sense in which they are used in the research work.
Stress: Stress is a natural physical and mental reaction to life experiences. Everyone expresses stress from time to time. Anything from everyday responsibilities like work and family to serious life events such as a new diagnosis, war, or the death of a loved one can trigger stress.
Stressors: a chemical or biological agent, environmental condition, external stimulus or an event seen as causing stress to an organism.[1] Psychologically speaking, a stressor can be events or environments that individuals might consider demanding, challenging, and/or threatening individual safety.
Environment: The natural world, as a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity.
Hazard: Is the potential for harm or an adverse effect (for example, to people as health effects, to organizations as property or equipment losses, or to the environment
