CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to

Business activities do not operates without the movement of individuals
and group letterset in such environment for some specific purpose. A major
characteristics or feature of any business concern is that it is made up of two
distinct or different set of staff with each having her well defined duty to
perform. Thus, they are the management staff
and the employed. The later category of staff is subordinates of the

Management sole responsibility is ensuring that it combines effectively
man, machine, materials and money (finance) in the desired form to the
accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives, these aforementioned

Managing involves getting things done through others, usually the
subordinate. It is worth sating here that both the business environment and the
human factors individuals and dynamic in nature (EWERE 2003). The most dynamic

This is because individuals tends to behave in such a way that would
bring about the achievement of certain results, which are personal in nature. Naturally
individuals have made to satisfy such needs, make the individuals to exhibits
some kings of behaviour that would lead to the satisfaction of those needs is
reinforcing desired behaviour in a positive fashion, it is important to
allocate rewards soon after the behaviour is affected so that the subordinate
perceived a delineate.
An unsatisfied need is sorting profit in the process of motivation.
Management should make sure that employee’s need are stratified especially,
adequate compensation this is commensurate to task being performed necessary fringe
benefit etc. should be given to the employees in order to display more sense of
commitment and dedication.
According to Davis, (1999) all those who are responsible for management
of any organization must built into the system, those factors that will index
people to contribute as effectively and efficiently as possible” (Ewere 2003)
another endeavour in which management should direct its attention in staff
motivation lies in the area of ensuring that employee work is conducted in a
conducive and attractive environment and more so, the provision of certain
necessary office facilities can not be over emphasized. Also management should
put in a system that would seen employee’s skills are adequately typed and a
room crated for the development of individual.
